Dogs to Follow in 2019

I have selected eight dogs for you to follow throughout next year which I think will all pay their way during 2019.

Argentina – BK W Dog Jan 17 – Tyrur Big Mike x Headford Maura

Kevin Hutton’s dog is the litter brother to Calzaghe Flash and though he won the Puppy Derby at Henlow over 460 metres I think he’s a short runner over 480, although he may stay a bit better with more maturity.

Shorter four bend races for now will be his bag and he will be a serious contender for the Romford Puppy Cup.

Calzaghe Flash BK W Dog Jan 17 – Tyrur Big Mike x Headford Maura

Ted Soppitt’s dog would have won the Romford Puppy Cup had he been drawn inside Grays Cup Winner. He then went on to win the National Sprint. He will be a major contender for all the sprint comps and shorter four bend races like the Golden Sprint.

Magical Icarus – W BK Dog Oct 16 – Tarsna Havana x Sizzling Sarah

David Jeans dog was frustrating to follow early in his career having won just one from six starts over four bends. I couldn’t wait for him to step up to six bends and his record has improved beyond all recognition. The only blemish was a costly one for us when he stumbled from the boxes in the St Leger Final. He’s got gears and stays really well and may even get further in time.

Newinn Banger – BK Dog April 17 – Farloe Blitz x Coolavany Pearl

Pat Rosney’s dog won a small competition at Nottingham after taking a while for the penny to drop before coming second to Argentina in the Henlow Puppy Derby. Both dogs look worth following next year. While Argentina may not get much further than 480 I think Banger will stay further and could well improve for it.

Queen Beyoncé – BD Bitch Feb 17 – Eden the Kid x Skate On

Liz McNair’s bitch isn’t the quickest away from the boxes which hampered her especially in her early career but she’s learning with experience and while she’s still not the quickest from the cans, she bides her time and absolutely takes off down the back straight. She won her last five including the Puppy Trophy at Hove. She will be a force to be reckoned with in all the bitches competitions next year.

Queenies Rainbow Blue BD Dog Jan 17 – Droopys Jet x Live Queen

Seamus Cahill’s dog caught the eye first during the Henlow Puppy Derby with his power-packed finishes. He then caught the eye in a different way when almost catching King Turbo in the Olympic Final. Showing unbelievable chasers pace he’s probably an accident waiting to happen. I’m hoping the step up to six bends will help Seamus straighten him out as he’s one fast hound!

Savana Winner – F Bitch Aug 16 – Ballymac Eske x Old Refrain

Diane Henry’s dog burst onto the Marathon scene winning the Tv Trophy at Crayford and while she was unable to win the Boxing Day Marathon at the same track recently she remains a bitch to follow. Especially over more conventional tracks over extreme distances. She will prove very hard to beat.

Tullig Hansel – BK Dog Mar 17 – Droopy Jet x Tullig Bonnie

Andrew Wood’s dog won his only start at Limerick before winning two handicaps and a top-grade contest at his trainers Shawfield base. He then stepped up to win a strong Puppy contest at Newcastle on Laurel Final night, in good style. His time was only bettered by Laurels winner Nadurra Ross. Could be more to come from him.
