The Gain Nutrition Puppy Derby starts with six heats at Henlow tomorrow.
The bookies go 7/1 the field. There are any number of unexposed pups lurking in this competition. I have selected four pups all at decent ew prices, who have raced or trialled well at the quirky venue. I won’t have any bets on the heats as a result tomorrow just watch how our selections perform.
* I’m not putting up any ante post selections for the Oaks I would rather watch the twelve first round heats first
Strides Farran 1 point ew @ 14/1 generally
Jimmy Hayton’s pup has really taken to Henlow winning both his races, been showing very good early pace and recording a decent clock. He’s only a May pup so must surely have more improvement in him. He also appears to have a winnable heat.
Droopys Noodle 0.75 points ew @ 20/1 Coral & Ladbrokes
Dean Child’s dog lost his trapping boots for us at Romford but his trainer has given him two trials round the unusual Henlow contours. He improved 40 spots between the first and second.
He can improve further, is well drawn as a wide runner and should get his trap throughout the competition.
Newinn Banger 0.5 points ew @ 25/1 Betfred
Pat Rosney’s dog got the better of Strides Farren at Nottingham and he recorded a decent trial spin on his first look. He’s not got the best early but as another wide runner, he should always get his draw and a clear run. He’s another who will improve on last week’s trial.
Queenies Rainbow 0.25 points ew @ 50/1 Skybet & Betfred
Seamus Cahill’s caught my Henlow spy’s eye last week when third behind Strides Farren another sure to improve and the type to keep on qualifying. Worth a small bet at the big odds on offer.
